WHERE IS TAMBASASAYAMA
Sasayama is located in the eastern-central part of Hyogo Prefecture.
Formerly known as Tamba State, this history-rich region has prospered throughout history a key transportation hub for travelers heading to Kyoto. This has left a marked cultural impact on the townscape and festivals found here.

Just west of Kyoto, Tamba Sasayama is a hidden gem where visitors can enjoy historic castle remains and Edo-style townscape, traditional art, and great outdoors.

Take a walk around the castle town, rest in charming cafes, and try local treats. There are several temples and shrines, as well as museums where you can learn about the fascinating history of the area.

WHAT:
Join us for a two-week homestay in our sister-city Tambasasayama, Hyogo, Japan. The homestay includes room & board, inclusion in family events on weekends/evenings, visits to local schools, and attending cultural events and activities during weekdays.
WHEN:
Trips take place during the first two weeks of October. You will miss two weeks from school and will need to receive permission from teachers/school counselors.
COSTS:
The cost of the trip is approximately $2000 to cover airfare and administrative expenses. All housing, food, and touring expenses are covered! This is the least expensive way to visit another country.

But don't forget to bring spending money for souvenirs!
MEETINGS:
Informational and preparation meetings will be held in the months leading up to the trip. During these meetings, you will learn more about the trip such as what is expected from you, what you can expect, and ask any questions you may have.
We will do our best to prepare you for travel and life in Japan for two-weeks. Meetings will cover culture, customs, and language. While also getting a chance to know each other.
