HOSTING IN WALLA WALLA
A vibrant reflection of the past and the present, downtown Walla Walla is the place where you begin to discover what makes this place so unique. A walk down tree-lined streets reveals a funky mix of vintage shops, boutiques, cafes, bookstores, tasting rooms, restaurants and more.
Add in the numerous pieces of public art and special events, the seasonal Farmers Market and outdoor concerts, and you start to see why our downtown has been recognized time and again as one of the best small town Main Streets in the country.

It has long been known as one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the nation, producing such crops as wheat, asparagus, strawberries and the famous Walla Walla Sweet Onions.

WHAT:
Make lifetime memories by welcoming an international student into your home! Host families are important to the Sister City exchange to provide meals and lodging for our visiting Japanese guests. On weekdays the group has scheduled activities and will spend the evenings with you. Weekends are for you to take your guest on trips, adventures, and other fun activities.
WHEN:
Spring exchange happens each year from mid to late March. Dates are confirmed by January.
COSTS:
Expenses associated with being a host family will include providing breakfasts and dinner, and entrance for your host student to any weekend or evening activities you do as a family.
MEETINGS:
Informational meetings will be held the month(s) before the group arrives in Walla Walla. During these meetings, you will learn more about the trip such as what is expected from you as a host, what you can expect from your student, and help answer any questions you may have.
We will do our best to prepare you for hosting. Meetings will cover the agenda, volunteering as a chaperone, and what to provide for your student. While also getting a chance to know each other.
